The HED Vanquish RCD Pro Disc Brake Rear Disc Wheel is designed to help you hit your highest speeds in your next time trial or triathlon. HED has nearly 40 years of experience of making disc wheels and this is their fastest one yet. It features a skeletal construction which features lightweight carbon sides bonded to a regular spokes wheel. This process results in less drag from all angles. It simultaneously increases vertical compliance which enhances the efficiency and smoothness of your pedaling. HED used premium 110GSM carbon on this wheel, keeping its weight all the way down at just 1,135 grams. This carbon also maintains extreme lateral stiffness through your highest efforts on the road. The rim has an internal measurement of 21mm to support both tubeless-ready or clincher tires. Added support helps knock down rolling resistance and impact resistance. Rolling resistance is further mitigated with the help of a Sonic Pro Hub with smooth bearings and 5-pawl engagement. From the start, the HED R&D team made a commitment: if we couldn’t make a full-carbon rim brake wheel that performed better than our iconic Jet wheel series, we wouldn’t take it to market.
It needed to be light and responsive. It needed to be faster than anything we had made before. It also had to be safe and reliable. Since other full-carbon rim brake wheels on the market can warp and become subject to blowouts as heat is applied through braking, we maintained alloy brake tracks in our Jet series and adopted best-in-class disc braking technology for our full-carbon wheels.
